Arts & Culture

Date: May 8, 2026

Time: 3:30 PM Utah Time - 7:30 PM Utah Time

Registration is required to attend this 2-part workshop.

To Register and Pay for the field photo/edit and print workshop with Bruce Hucko, email him at bhucko@icloud.com. He will then send you detailed information and invoice you via PayPal. $75 per person, limited to 8 persons. Session One occurs on Friday, May 8, 3:30 to 7:30 pm. Session Two takes place on Saturday, May 9, 10:30 to 12:30 am.

Session One will include short group discussions on image orientation, photography as an act of isolation/subtraction, focus stacking, lens selection and more. Hucko will demonstrate how he works an image in the field and why, but mostly he’ll be working beside you on your image to create personally meaningful images, looking for the gestures of plants, the forms in the land, the flow of a stream and the lay of the light upon them all to find content that mirrors our own thoughts and feelings. Our goal is bringing home one image you’re excited about with an understanding how how you can better use your time in the field.

In Session Two, you’ll be challenged to work your images so that they better equate with the thoughts and feelings you had about the scene in the field. Hucko will first demonstrate his own methods for resolving both color and b&w imagery. Participants will then work their own image with Hucko’s guidance. The session will end with a large screen projected critique session. You’ll be asked to write a brief essay about your image and workshop experience. Hucko will later produce a PDF Portfolio for the group.

Location: Meet at Kanab Library community room, 374 North Main Street, Kanab, Utah. Carpool on Friday for Session One to the workshop site on Best Friends Animal Sanctuary property. Session Two will take place back at the Kanab Library on Saturday.
