Join US Dept of the Interior and National Park Service veteran John Hiscock for a fascinating introduction to our relatively unknown National Trails System as an important part of America’s National Conservation Lands. John’s talk will emphasize the location, importance, and conservation challenges faced by two local and regional trail landscapes - the Old Spanish National Historic Trail and the Arizona National Scenic Trail.
A thirty year resident of Kanab, Utah, John Hiscock served nearly forty years with the Department of the Interior and National Park Service as legal clerk, park ranger, regulations and policy specialist, park manager, and Utah State Coordinator, including park assignments along the Old Spanish NHT, at Great Sand Dunes NP, Pipe Spring NM, and Death Valley NP. In retirement, he is a tireless advocate for protection of public lands along the national trails and served as manager of the non-profit Old Spanish Trail Association from 2015 – 2018. Classical/Spanish Guitarist Julian Harmon will provide musical interludes!
Location: Kanab City Library Community Meeting Room, 374 North Main Street, Kanab, UT
