A thirty year resident of Kanab, Utah, John Hiscock served nearly forty years with the Department of the Interior and National Park Service as legal clerk, park ranger, regulations and policy specialist, park manager, and Utah State Coordinator, including park assignments along the Old Spanish NHT, at Great Sand Dunes NP, Pipe Spring NM, and Death Valley NP. In retirement, he is a tireless advocate for protection of public lands along the national trails and served as manager of the non-profit Old Spanish Trail Association from 2015 – 2018.
