Nalini Nadkarni

An American forest ecologist who pioneered the study of Costa Rican rain forest canopies, Nalini Nadkarni is professor emeritus at the University of Utah in the School of Biological Sciences. A lifelong interest and concern for trees led her to an academic career to study and understand trees, and innovate activities and programs that raise awareness of the importance of trees and nature to others. Nalini’s experience with film inspired her to create the Monteverde Conservation Film Festival to bring short conservation documentaries to the rural village and surroundings of where she conducts field research.
